Why Are Box Braids So Stylish? And Sexy.

How to Braid Your Hair

What are Box Braids? This simple braided hairstyle describes a head of classic three-strap braids, usually with thinning hair. They’re typically thin, though you can create them any size you prefer and sometimes your fingers just can’t handle the mess.

It takes some training, but box braids aren’t nearly as hard to do as they look. You might need a professional stylist with experience, or at least some instruction from the classic box braiding pattern book.

Most hairstylists have had at least some training in braiding hair, but it’s not necessary to have been in touch with braiding styles for a long time. A typical stylist who does this kind of work will have a lot of tricks up her sleeve to create some extra creative hairstyles, so it pays to ask what she uses.

If you can’t afford a professional stylist or don’t feel comfortable asking one, there are plenty of hairstylists that offer free box braids lessons online. Some of these are just videos with the hairstyles pre-made at the click of a mouse.

The great thing about these is that you get an easy version of the braids without the hassle of learning how to braid natural hair. While this might not be the most ideal situation for some, it can save you quite a bit of money and the time. This is a great way to try out new hairstyles without having to pay for professional hair help.

There are many different looks with box braids, including cornrows, twists, bobs and a modified ponytail. A lot of hairstylists like to use cornrows as a great starting point because they are simple enough to pull off. All you need to do is take some length from your natural hair and secure it in braids at the scalp, then secure the rest into cornrows. You can choose any number of styles from this.

The key is to find a style that works for your face.

Box braids are perfect for those who want to keep their natural hair but are tired of the over-processed styles that exist. Instead of spending hours in a salon getting them done, you can simply do it yourself in the comfort of your own home. Plus, you can save money since you won’t need to pay a stylist to do them for you.

Since box braids aren’t always a traditional braid, you can easily do a combination of styles. One day, you might be a simple cornrow followed by a simple ponytail. The next day, you can add waves or a fancy up-do to your locks.

When it comes to the cost, box braids are surprisingly affordable. Compared to the other popular hair styles out there, box braids aren’t even as rich as the rest. So, if you’ve always wanted to change up your hair but aren’t sure how, box braids are the way to go. There’s no way that you can go wrong when you wear them.

With the sleek styling they have and the way they lay on your head, you’ll definitely feel and look sexier!

How To Braid

By Jeanine M

A braid is a hairstyle that may appear complicated but a simple braid is easy to master.

How to Braid Your Hair

First thing to do is to get your hair ready. Use a comb or a paddle brush to comb your hair back. Be sure that there are no tangles or snags. You can finger comb smoothing serum throughout first if you want to eliminate flyaways and make it look neater. If you have wavy or curly hair, you can braid it wet so that it won’t be so difficult. But either wet hair or dry hair will work.

Place all your hair in a ponytail. You can use an elastic hair tie if you want but it’s not required.

Now, separate the ponytail into three sections. You will have the left section, the middle section and the right section. Keep both the left and right section in each of your hands. Use the left thumb and left index finger to hold the middle section.

Grab the right section and cross it over the middle section. You pass the middle section to the right hand and the right section to the left hand. Be sure to keep each section separated as you do this. So now, the right section will be the middle section. Now cross the left over the middle and continue this pattern of moving the sections. Keep going until you reach the end of the ponytail. Secure the braid with an elastic hair tie.

You can keep practicing until you get good at this. Once you learn this basic braid, you can make a variety of sizes to create different looks with your hairstyles. You can make pigtails, which are braids on each side of your head. Once you learn the basic braid, you can find all different ways to use them and come up with your own unique look.
